2.0.34p11b SCSI (Adaptec) probs?

Hi,

[I post this here first, because of the Adaptec updates.]

Having recently booted our server on 2.0.34p11b, I find that
I'm unable to burn a CD. Details:

cdrecord-1.5 (I believe there's a newer one)

2 x Adaptec 2940U's, one with 2x2Gb disks, one with a Yamaha
CD-rewriter.

P200MMX, 64Mb, etc...

(Precise details at http://ferret.lmh.ox.ac.uk/ferret.html)

The CD is being written from an image on hdc3
(The disk would be UDMA if we ran a 2.1.)

I forget the precise error, but can ruin another CD if requested :-)
The error comes from cdrecord, not the kernel, and claims to be retryable,
but it bombs out shortly after.

The same setup was just fine on 2.0.33, even while the machine was under
quite heavy load.

Is it likely that the Adaptec changes have caused this to happen, or the
hardware on the way out?

More details upon request.

Cheers,
Matthew.
