2.1.98 floppy+cdrom hard lock

Hello all.

Just tried 2.1.98, went fine for the most part of it. Some unresolved syms
(bttv, and two more, I can't remember), but running with SMP=1.

Now for the bad news: if I try to make boot disks from cdrom:

dd if=/mnt/cdrom/blah/diskimage.bin of=/dev/fd0 (1)

then a hard lock occurs. No SysRq, no Alt+F1, no anything. It's just the same
from inside X than using a VC.

Another issue (2): from 2.1.89 (at least), I can't read a CD from my TEAC
CD-R55S (SCSI CD-R writer), connected to a NCR53C810, using xcdroast 0.96d-b4.
2.0.33 goes fine for that. 2.1.9[56] tend to lock themselves.

(1) tested on the following machine: P200, ASUSP55T2P4 mainboard (HX chipset),
IDE HD, ZIP and CD-ROM, 3.5 standard 1.4M floppy.

(2) tested on the following machie: P120, ZIDA STX5 mainboard (TX chipset),
IDE HD, SCSI CD-R, NCR53C810 SCSI controller.

Both configurations: 2.1.98 SMP, modular kernel, UP computers.

Hope this helps to somebody with debugging. I have read many messages about
problems with the NCR boards, but they seem to have stopped, so I ask for
advice in order to determine if I have a troubled computer or so.

Thanks for reading.
