Or comment out SMP = 1 in Makefile. This is what always reminds me that
I forgot to comment it out(1). A #SMP = 1 make zImage succeeds where a
uncommented doesn't(2). Ofcourse that is not necessarily the case for
everyone, for me it however is(3).

1 = good thing compiling takes less than 10 minutes :)
2 = 500kb compared to 514kb if I remember correctly
3 = no modules and not that many =y's in .config
