i think most agree to add an optional "disable/hide bootmessages"
somewhere (be it lilo or kernel). but i think, it's important that in all
conditions there must be one single key to show the user everything.

if a system refuses to boot and the user isn't able to type dmesg or
something, someone must be able to press one single key to see everything
there is to know from the bootmessages.

i hope it isn't wrong to say a well-known well-hated OS has something
similar by pressing ESC while booting in splash-screen. and maybe a "press
ESC to see linux move your system to another dimension" would be nice ;)))

but it has to work everywhere in order to help people with their problems !
