You will want to update the pppd and maybe the pcmcia if you use these
facilities. Otherwise they dont matter

Im running 2.0.34 and 2.1.103 on basically un modified (except errata)
Red Hat 5. pppd would object if I used it but I dont, the rest really
doesnt cause problems.
