That fixes part of the problem only, many programs (gpm, dip among those I
use here) also still use /dev/cua?. Sometime back it was discussed what/how
this kind of programs should be fixed, but I don't remember any clearcut
answer. Could somebody post what has to be done?

That's what I thought too, but switching them around seems to have no real
effect (RedHat-5.0 hacked over). There are also the strange lockd
