Unfortunately, every time I transfer a (large) file, both consoles get overwritten
with a multitude of messages such as the following:
plip0: receive timeout(2,87)
plip0: transmit timeout(1,87)
plip0: transmit timeout(1,87)
plip0: transmit timeout(1,87)
plip0: transmit timeout(1,87)
plip0: receive timeout(2,87)
plip0: transmit timeout(1,8f)
...
plip0: receive timeout(2,87)
plip0: transmit timeout(1,8f)
plip0: receive timeout(2,87)
plip0: receive timeout(5,a7)
plip0: receive timeout(2,87)
plip0: receive timeout(2,87)
plip0: receive timeout(5,87)
This happens on both 2.0.33 (on the laptop) and 2.1.105 (on the desktop).
These messages appear once every minute or two. Is something broke, or
should I edit the kernel sources and comment out the printk calls in
/usr/src/linux/drivers/net/plip.c ?
Is there something I can tweak to reduce/eliminate the frequency of the
timeouts?
(HELP!)
Thanks!
