You seem to know few Unix systems then. All Unixes using the Sun NFS/ONC
suite (at least Solaris, HP/UX, Reliant Unix, I believe Unixware too) have
a kernel level automounter. AMD has some inhererent races that were easy
to fix by moving parts of it into the kernel.
