kernel config

i hope this post is not too out-of-place on this list, but it's the most appropriate list i could find.

i am preparing to compile the kernel for the first time (and yes, i have read Kernel-HOWTO). when i run the kernel config program, i am not given the option to include kernel support for java binaries. i do have the jdk 1.1.6 installed. can anyone suggest a reason for this (or direct me somewhere that can)? thanks in advance...
