Me too ! The source code is incomprehensible and not enough commented.

Maybe just using the ppp packages that come together with Linux
distributions. This would stop us from upgrading the kernel apart from the
OS, but is the safest solution (in my opinion, of course). Or we could ask
someone else to take care of pppd. I've seen enough messages on this list
to think that the author (or the last authors :) to reconsider some well
intended changes. Are they subscribed to this list anyway ?

OTOH, I think I asked this once, but I had no answer: Is there any way to
change the peer's IP address _after_ he authenticates to my server ? By
now, I can only use two methods: login before ppp, which starts pppd with
the proper IP addresses and no authentication (it's already done), or a
quite bad hack in the source code that modifies the IP addresses after
authentication. I thought that maybe the authors of ppp already thought of
that...
