I did not have the same experience with 2.0.35. 2.0.35 identified my 6x86MX v1.4 as an i486. 2.0.33 with Andrew D. Balsa's patch correctly identifies the 6x86MX as an i686. 2.0.35 looks to have this patch installed, but /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/kernel/head.S was modified for cyrix MII support or some such, and does not identify my 6x86MX as an i686. I took my patched 2.0.33 version of this file and put it with my 2.0.35 source, compiled, and it now correctly identifies my CPU. Anyone else have a similar experience?
