VGAfb scrolling and screenspace

It seems that modes other than 80x25 using VGAfb are a bit screwy. I haven't
tried alternate modes without framebuffer devices. The problem is, in 80x34
mode I only get to use 30 lines; the last 5 lines contain kernel debugging info
(it scrolled down right when the system booted) but hasn't been erased because I
can't scroll down to it (it scrols at the 30th line)
Plus, 132x43 mode was rather interesting--when the screen started to scroll, the
top of the screen shifted down a bit to the middle of the display, with a little
chunk of unused screenspace (similar to the 80x34 problem) and that top part of
the display, now at the middle, when it scrolls new characters come from the top
section of the display
