Per Leonard's instructions, I downloaded the latest firmware for the
controller.

I upgraded the controller firmware on all my machines. It works fine.
However, the SCSI Tape problems still persist.

Richard,

Actually, it *is* the latest firmware which has a problem with timeouts on some
tape drives. I recommended you try firmware 5.06J, which is an older version
available from my web site at http://www.dandelion.com/Linux/. I forgot to
mention the URL in my initial message to Richard, so it's not surprising he
just tried the latest.
