Perpetual AIC7xxx bus rescans in 2.1.104 through 2.1.111+

I just tried 2.1.111 on my works system, which is a Compaq Deskpro 6000
with an Adapted 2940U controller. It has a single internal 2 GB
Ultra-Narrow drive and no external drives, with autotermination on and
working. The same problem occurs with 2.1.104, 2.1.105, and 2.1.106 as
with 2.1.111 (v5.0.18), but works using the 2.1.103 version of the driver
(v5.0.13) if I put the older AIC 7xxx driver files into the newer kernels.

The newer driver works fine at home on my non-Compaq generic system with an
internal 4.5 GB UW drive. I wonder whether this problem could be
Compaq-related or perhaps only applies to Ultra-Narrow drives.
