Wow. I just tried that; after about 5 secs of etc etc, a scrambled oops
zipped across the tube and the machine rebooted.

My machine won't boot if I use (scanned) VESA fb modes (card switches ok,
but box goes beepitybeepbeep forever or until CtrlAltDel at which time
beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) which I think is my AMI bios, so was booted
in plain vga fb (80x25).

Box is old Intel PCI-Premier LXII w. Matrox Mystique.
