I've experienced a weird problem just now. I usually leave my X11 session
up continuously. In this case, it had been up for 35 hours when all of a
sudden I started to get corruption on the screen, as if something was
overwriting bits in the graphic card's memory, when I started up BitchX.
(Yes, I'm an IRC addict) This has happened three times now, ever since I
started using the new console stuff.
This wouldn't be so bad if I could shut down the X11 session and restart
it from the console prompt, but this doesn't reset the graphic card, so
when I bring up X11 again, the corruption is still present, and requires a
full power down and reboot to correct the situation.
I use a CL5429 w/2MB of DRAM on this system, with the latest XF86SVGA
driver and X11 software (3.3.2) with the 3.3.2.2 patches - and running in
256 colours @ 1280x1024.
I believe some others have experienced this problems.
Cheers,
Alex
