I am in the process of compiling the development kernel for the first time. I
am moving from 2.0.34 and having difficulties. I have instaled all of the
"Required Utility Upgrades," but am getting errors when I run 'make xconfig.'

the error is similar to the following:

sys/stat.h: No such file or directory
sys/types.h: No such file or directory
ctype.h: No such file or directory
errno.h: No such file or directory
fcntl.h: No such file or directory...
(There's about 10 orther files, but you get the idea)

Anyway, I dearchived the source in /usr/source and ran make. Can you help me
with what I am doing wrong or missing.

thanks
chrisj
