If indeed it's a closed standard, and the only meaning you are supposed
to need is "prefailure"
Then you would need to interpret it for all different drives, makes,
and revision numbers.

I can see how to do a substantial fraction of the errors, by opening
a drive, and abusing it.
(hold the head assembly in one position, blow on it, to simulate bearing
death, push it with a rubber band, to simulate bias, brake the disk to
simulate sticky bearings, heat it up, freeze it, scratch it, disconnect
the HDA, or various cables, cut the wires to heads, ...)
But needless to say, this would take a while.

It may be worth it, if you have 10K drives, and want to know failure info
in detail.
