I have the same case here. The FAQ mentioned that any kernel in 2.1.x
or 2.0 32+ series fixed the hack in ioport.c (according to FAQ). I have
2.0.35 and egcs-1.0.3a which works perfectly. The matter is that
egcs-19980803 doesn't work with 2.0.35. The optimization
used to compile ioport.c doesn't change at all, this gotta be the kernel's
problem (Jeffery Law said so).
