You obviously missed the point in my postings, I consider the Amiga to
be fairly dead in most aspect and I certainly would not suggest anyone
to spend their money on it unless for centimental and hack value. I
use the one I have because its fun to hack Linux for and because there
are still quite a few Amiga owners left who could use a modern OS for
their machine (ie. Linux - or is that too obvious ;-).

However, there are plenty of non PC manufacturers who seem to develop
sane hardware and you can get fairly sane graphics cards for PCs.

The x86 is not exactly the most wonderful processor in the world, on
the other hand I can tell you about bad flaws in the Amiga design as
well. However, its not the issue here.

I am not arguing that we do not need an API for supporting card
interrupts and possibly DMAs.

*plonk*

For the record, I own an Amiga and a NeXT (the latter doesn't run
Linux unfortunately) but I also use PCs and workstations a lot. I hope
to upgrade this Sun SS5 as soon as I can find out whether ARLA will
work reliably on it (time issue).
