Very large files (>2GB) on X86

A few days ago I created a >2GB file on a FAT32 partition. Linux let
me do it, but I couldn't read the file afterward. It seems to me that
allowing the creation of a >2GB file under FAT32 is a bug. After all,
Windows has the same 2^31 limit that Linux has.

(I can see where creating >2GB files on ext2 partitions might have
limited value on an x86 box...)

When accessing the file under Win98, I got "Access Denied." I was
able to delete the file however. It took me a moment to realize what
was happening... No filesystem corruption was evident, so I guess no
harm done...

Anyone know if an Alpha would be able to read >2GB files on FAT32? :)

Thanks,

Jeff
