top-level Makefile options: documented?

Subject says it mostly. This has been prompted by one too many messages
from knowledgeable folk saying things like "use make oldconfig", or "use
make bzImage"...

These knowledgeable folk %-) can try and save themselves a lot of time
by pointing us less educated types to the source of the info (which
hopefully hasn't all been word of mouth).

There are reams of options in the main Makefile, some of which are
probably wayyyyyy out of date and bad for the health, and others of
which Linus probably uses every day, but very few are mentioned in the
README (I must admit bzImage IS one of these).

Knowing when one does and doesn't need a "make mrproper" or a "make
clean" etc. would be kinda useful for know-nothings like me.

cheers
Neil
