It's hard for me to argue against that, considering that I just said pretty
much the same thing half an hour ago (with vger's turnaround, you might see
it tomorrow afternoon :-) I also mentioned the cross-platform
possibilities: provide implementations of the API for Mac, NT, etc. and
suddenly it's much easier to do stuff involving metadata without tying it to
the platform. (As long as you don't abuse it the way the Mac does --- text
pages stored in the resource fork, forsooth!)
