Recent sound driver for internal speaker available?

I was wondering whether a sound driver of some sort for the internal
speaker is available for recent kernels? I found something for
2.0.something but could not get it to work.

It would be rather nice to have various biff beeps and such go to the
internal speakers as I rarely switch the stereo to Aux.
