How to get a minor number assigned?

Hi,

I've written a LCD driver for standard 64480 based LC-Displays. It is
much more high level than the available drivers around (allowing ioctl
for cursor positioning etc) and I'd like to release it as an extension
to the kernel under GPL.

I need, however, an official assigned minor number under the 'misc'
major (10). I sent mail to H. Peter Anvin (if you read this: Did you
ever get my mail?) and got no response.

Who is the official keeper of Documentation/devices.txt besides Peter? Is
there anyone else I could contact to get a number assigned?
