Can any of the radio protocols be hacked to work via a tunnel device
or some such.

The idea being, people on lossy PPP links could tunnel via PPP to a
daemon on a box somewhere else, where the daemon does all sorts of
magic to help with lossy circumstances.

Sound plausible?
