The spectrum could be forced up to about 3kbit I think. However, the
spectrum had a 1 bit converter which probably was the limit. It should be
possible to pack data in much more compact. The spectrum was rather
sensitive to correct tape speed, a modern computer should be able to
compensate better in software.
