In this particular case, I doubt if it is the sound code itself, but rather something that happens when the sound code in the kernel, or the modprobe, goes poking about on the bus.
I suspect it could be in the IRQ routing area as well, but, it is beyond my capabilities to diagnose or correct that part of the code...
