Hi all,

Thank you all for taking the time to help me out. I have a much happier
system now, but the PCNet32 still seems to be very sad. I am going to try a
ISA NIC tonight and use that for the time being until I have time to track
down the PCNet32 problem. I am still getting transmit timeouts and I want
to make absolutely sure it has nothing to do with other hardware (cables,
hub, NIC on the other end.) I have swapped out almost all of it and still
have the problem. I have also used the PCNet32 in my work box (sadly Win98)
for a whole day without problem.

The hardware swapped in and out of my system was provided by my local shop.
They are very Linux friendly and even ship boxes with RedHat 5.1 installed
upon request. They were so interested in helping me resolve the problem that
they _gave_ me a K6-2 to replace my K6 so I could run the board at 100MHz
and they _gave_ me a Riva128 AGP to replace my S3 Virge-DX since they didn't
have another in stock (as well as brought a new MB to my house to see if
that would help.) I'm not posting their name since that is not the point of
this post. If you are interested in who they are just email me. Very nice
guys and very Linux friendly.

And _they_ say you can't get support for Linux??? I wish I could get this
kind of support for the MS products I have to use at work.

-Eric ;-)
