Yep, let Andreas Jaeger or Drepper know about this problem and it'll turn
up in the next glibc2 release.

2.0.97 is out now, so perhaps the original poster can try that one.
I'm about to try it tonight once I've fixed whatever trashed my filesystem
last night (damn machine locked up on making a tape backup and needed a
red switch - a report will follow shortly tonight after work)
