Actually, make -j boot on my alpha runs to completion with 2.1.102,
but will lock it tight within a few seconds on all the 2.1.11x and 2.1.12x
kernels I tried. PC164 w/ egcs 1.1b compiler, binutils-2.9.1.0.4.

2.1 is deteriorating, as far as I can tell.

(One thing I most add, though, is that while it does last, 2.1.123 is
quite a bit faster then 2.1.102. So, it dies faster too:-)
