[2.1.126-pre2-ac1] Faster, but sound fails with Quake I/II

(UP PPRO, IDE, NE2000)

2.1.126-pre2-ac1 seems more responsive, but that could just be because I
just rebooted the machine.

Sound CAN work, because mp3 playing works and xboing works. The sound
seems to nice and fast in xboing...the sound is made as soon as the ball
hits the brick.

On the other hand, in Quake the sound is normal sound (possibly)
overlayed with a big layer of loud static. I can't really tell if there
is real sound underneat ;)

I have a TRUE SB16, with modules.
