Sendmail 8.9.1 and 2.1.127-pre3 (fwd)

OK, further to my previous post, it seems to be something to do
with gethostbyname()? In previous kernel versions, this function
did not require named to be running, and quickly returned a
"don't know" type of response. Now, it seems much slower.

This is based on a very quick observation... sorry, can't be any
more help, have to disappear from a Linux machine for six weeks due
to family illness.

Anyone having problems with this combination? (Sendmail is compiled
against glibc on this i586). 2.1.126 works just fine, 2.1.127-pre3
slows right down... takes about 20 seconds to start, and doesn't
respond to incoming connects for a very long time.

Seems to be waiting on a call to select(5, ...) I'd do some more
tracing but am forced to use Windoze only for the next six weeks.
Not happy.

Back to 2.1.126 for now.
