Testing the GNIC-II (Hamachi) gigabit NIC

I'm currently playing with two gigabit ethernet GNIC-II network
cards from Packet Engines.
After some initial setup problems (motherboard unable
to recognize that there is a 64-bit card in a 32-bit PCI slot),
I'm trying to do some benchmarks. The cards are in a back-to-back
configuration between an Alpha-533 and a PentiumII-266.

Are there any TCP settings I can possibly tweak to improve
TCP performance on large file transfers ?

Under Solaris, the manual recomends setting (using ndd -set /dev/tcp)
the following parameters to 65535:

tcp_recv_hiwat
tcp_xmit_hiwat
tcp_cwnd_max
udp_recv_hiwat
udp_xmit_hiwat

thanks,
--J.
