I think anyone using the latest development kernel (especially a pre-*
kernel!) should expect such things and be capable of coping with them:
they really aren't worth complaining about. I don't expect people to
test kernel patches against PCMCIA before submitting them. There will
always be a limited amount of version skew.
I guess I should have put a smiley in there. I test what I have time for
and report what breaks in hopes of saving others time.
As for making PCMCIA part of the standard kernel... it is something

With laptops becoming much more prevalent so does PCMCIA. I would love
to have it available when I bring up a new system because it would make
transfering packages much easier if my SyQuest was available. OTOH I
understand the editorial control issue, and certainly do not have any
complaints about the current level of support.
