smp with advansys scsi

i recently added my second cpu to an smp mobo i have been using for a long
time.
when using the mobo (a TYAN 1562D) with a single cpu (p166) i had all
sorts of problems - seemingly with kmod or the modules it would try to
load - ifconfig would core dump too... (the modules i noticed these
problems with the most was psaux)

now with 2 cpus those problems are corrected but in atleast
2.1.125->2.1.127 with my dual 166/smp system i get this:
[root@creative] ~# insmod advansys
scsi0 : Advansys SCSI 3.1E: PCI Ultra 16 CDB: IO 6400/F, IRQ 9
scsi : 1 host
scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 0, scsi0, channel 0, id 0,
lun 0 Test Unit Ready 00 00 00 00 00

the module never returns... (a real pain in the ass when my init was set
to load this module at boot...)

if i boot up to an UP (vs smp) kernel - i get no problems...

also is it just me, or is psaux missing from 2.1.127 ? (i used the patch
file not the full - no psaux any where in the source tree..)
