sorry to disappoint, but i'm seeing "UP Flu" with a kernel compiled
with egcs-1.1b. as pointed out in my original post under this
subject:

compiler:
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/egcs-2.90.27/specs
gcc version egcs-2.90.27 980315 (egcs-1.0.2 release)
glibc2: 2.0.7

if it matters, i'm compiling with CONFIG_M686 and i've also added
"-mpentiumpro" to the command line of the compiler.
