The samba 2.0 alphas and betas (at least as of alpha 17 - which is newer
than beta1) still do not compile properly with glibc (I have glibc
2.1.100). I have a patch up at http://www.netcom.com/~mlaufer/samba that
will patch cleanly to both beta-1 and alpha-17. It will detect, using
autoconf, the problems and fix them. The patch has been sent to the samba
team, but I have not heard anything back other than a message saying that
the patch has been forwarded to the main developers. BTW, after applying
the patch you need to rerun autoconf in Samba's source directory to update
the configure program.

I also have patches to get Samba 1.9.18p8 and p10 (and the smbmount
programs) to compile and work properly on Glibc on the same page.
