Well, on my NEC Versa 5060X, there are two options. First (and
default), one can specify a file in a FAT partition to suspend
to. Second (and what I use, since it's an all-linux laptop),
one can specify to save to a partition. You have to run a little
DOS utility to set either one up, and the partition option appears
to just grab the first un-partitioned space on the disk. So I
did my Linux install leaving about 100 MB of space on the end of the
disk, then used a DOS boot floppy to tell BIOS to use a partition.
The utility figures out how big the partition should be, and creates
it.
