pre-2.1.130-3 silent death

Hi

I am experiencing a problem with pre-2.1.130-3 (in fact vger-2.1.129 +
the pre3 patch) where the machine will silently die without an oops.

It is dead in the sense that it does not respond to pings and keyboard
input does not unblank the screen. However, if the screen is unblanked I
can press the magic keys to get the register content dump which shows
the processors are fiddling around in cpu_idle().

This has happend for me three times so far in two days, once when I was
running `plain' vger-2.1.129 and twice after applying the pre130-3
patch. The problem started to occur after I upgraded from vger-2.1.127
to vger-2.1.129.

The box is a Tyan Tiger 2 motherboard (440LX chipset) dual P2/300MHz,
128MB RAM, 1 EEPro100, 1 Essential RoadRunner HIPPI card, 1 BusLogic
SCSI, and 1 Alteon AceNIC Gigabit Ethernet card.

However the SCSI disks are not being mounted and neither the RoadRunner
nor the AceNIC are configured when the box dies. Only the video (S3ViRGE
and the EEPro100 are in use).

Jes
