I have been experimenting with 2.1.x kernels in recent weeks.
I got the basic system up by starting with a Redhat 5.1 system,
upgrading the packages (as detailed on http://www.linuxhq.com/),
and then compiling the kernel.
Everything is working fine, except for when I try doing Samba
mounts.
<cut>
[root@harmony /root]# /usr/sbin/smbmount //DOGMATIX/C$ /mnt/test -c harmony
-U administrator
Password:
mount error: Invalid argument
Please look at smbmount's manual page for possible reasons
<cut>
On the machine's console the following message occurs:
SMBFS: need mount version 6.
I have upgraded mount as per the instructions on linuxhq.
[root@harmony /root]# mount -V
mount: mount-2.7l
Of course, this doesn't appear to be version 6. So, what's the problem
here? Are the linuxhq.com details up to date?
If not, where is a good place to get the required version of mount?
Tris.
