Thought on APM problems with laptops

I was messing around with my laptop and I have noticed it dislikes Linux
APM stuff. So, I started thinking... "what if Linux cannot handle two
separate battery devices?" (I asked this because windows Control
panel/system/system devices shows three power devices... a compound I
believe it was and two battery systems.) Looking through the source
code I believe that Linux only handles one battery pack. Is it possible
laptops such as the CTX FC3A300, and others that have had problems, are
indeed having them with Linux because they report two headers for
battery packs or similar insanity?

I do not know the answer. I hope someone on this list knows more about
APM internals than myself and can make some good suggestions. Please
note I haven't tried undefining the APM_RELAX_SEGMENTS yet. I am going
to do that now.

For those who have APM problems with laptops (linux crashing with page
after page of oops on startup) please state if your system has the
option of two battery packs, and if you use windows if it lists them as
separate in the system applet of the control panel under system devices
(bottom of the list more or less). Please do so in private email to me
and in a week or so I will tabulate it and post the results. Please
include BIOS make, version, Linux kernel version, and Laptop make/model.

Mine is the CTX model listed above with the Phoenix 4.0.0 Bios (there
were some subversions, I will include them in the final result).
