I am also using IP Masquerading (ipchains-1.3.6) and the vanilla kernel stuff
with a Teles 16.3 TA, no slowdown noticed on any 2.1.x kernels. I am at or above
the recommended levels in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes. I shall upgrade
to ipchains-1.3.8 in the next few days.
