kernel debugging & x86 emulators

Has anyone given the Bochs x86 emulator (or any other) a try for doing linux
kernel debugging? I've got a build of the kernel that's freezing when it's
been brought into memory for booting, and having a working emulator would at
least let me see what instruction(s) are causing the freeze.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
B
