Large Shared memory creation

Hi,

The document "kernel hackers guide" says creating shared memory puts a entry
in page table of processes sharing processes.

If large shared memory is created (greater or closer to 4MB which oracle
does), then it means 1024 PTE is present in all processes. It would be more
efficient that a page-table is created and the entire page-table is shared
across processes.

Is current linux kernel(2.1.x) supports such implementation for large shared
memory?

Since, Iam not in mailing list please copy the reply to my mail address.

Regards,

Muthu. O.L.
