Your dealing with a group of people more centered around cigars and
seamen stained dresses than reality and common sense.
The only chance you have on enlightening these people, is perhaps, to
show them (certain) patents are harming their trade or industry.
Something like maintaining a patch-set of useful bits and pieces that
can't be used in the US. The more useful it is, the better.
