using two NE2000 compatible ISA-PnP soundcards and a Yamaha OPL3-SAX
soundcard, with isapnptools to initialize PnP, I get the following
behaviour:
If I load the ne module first, then the sound module, everything is fine
(works great, ip-masquerading etc...).
If I load the sound module first, the ne module doesn't load but gives no
error message.
The kernel is the 2.0.36 that comes with RedHat 5.2 (with OSS afaik).
[Looks also like we were having ISA PnP bugs too. It may or may not
matter, but it looks like this machine doesn't quite work if we don't
follow the configuration set by Windows 95; maybe the cards are lying
about the possible settings or isapnptools is buggy.]
