Summary: Oops/Aiee with 2.2.0-pre6 and quake2
---------------------------------------------

Description:
------------

I got the below Oops the following way:

Boot, start X (SVGA 3.3.2), switch to virtual console 2 (matroxfb),
then 'sudo fbset -depth 0', so that I can play svgalib quake2.
I play for a while, then exit.
When I try to start it again, quake2 doesn't start at all, it may even lock up console, no
error meassages, just blank screen .
'Killall quake2.real', ok I get console back.
And now, when I start it the 3rd time, I get the oops, and the system stops.
(had to write down everything by hand , but I'm positive I got everything exactly as it was on the screen)

Important: could not reproduce this with 2.2.0-pre5, and I've been using the 2.2 pre kernels without noticeable
problems, using same config,xserver,quake2,hardware.

Keywords:
---------

kernel 2.2.0-pre6, see attached config
only ALSA modules are loaded ( 0.3.0-pre2: snd-interwave, snd-pcm1-oss, and all other needed modules)
fb console using matrox acceleration (matrox mystique 220 pci)
quake2 is version 3.19a, adding no parameters at startup, using 320x240 software rendering
svgalib 1.3.0.19980916, using VESA as chipset setting

/proc/version:
Linux version 2.2.0-pre6 (root@mrdata) (gcc version 2.7.2.3) #1 Sat Jan 9 15:32:16 CET 1999

ksymoops output:

Options used: -V (default)
-o /lib/modules/2.2.0-pre6/ (default)
-k /proc/ksyms (default)
-l /proc/modules (default)
-m /usr/src/linux/System.map (default)
-c 1 (default)

You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will assume
that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running right now
and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution.
If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get
more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find
map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.

Warning in compare_ksyms_lsmod, module snd-interwave is in lsmod but not in ksyms, probably no symbols exported
Warning in compare_ksyms_lsmod, module snd-pcm1-oss is in lsmod but not in ksyms, probably no symbols exported

I'm not sure which part of my system the problem belongs to.
( maybe scheduler ? I'm a complete newbie in kernel hacking, just started reading the KHG )

I'll provide any other info if needed about my system.
