Gods, don't bring this here. Or I'll have to recommend Postfix, and then
linux-kernel will devolve into a "my MTA is better that your MTA" fight.

David knows the ZMailer author well. Let them work out the problems with
vger's current problems (it would seem to be a horsepower issue more than
anything; it's impressive that it's held up this long, considering the
load it's been under both from the lists and CVS).
