Question on PS/2 Mouse drive on 2.2.x

I've noticed that the PS/2 mouse drive is no longer selectable to be
compiled as a module. How come? This makes it harder to create generic
kernels for multiple machines as some may not have a PS/2 mouse in them or
may not use it.
